Sustainable tourism – Formentera
Sustainable tourism

The World Tourism Organization (WTO) defines sustainable tourism as "tourism that takes full account of current and future economic, social and environmental impacts to meet the needs of visitors, industry, the environment and host communities".

In this sense, Formentera has the total capacity to assume a leadership role of sustainable tourism at national and international level, thus enhancing its sustainable development.

The development of tourism should be a balance that promotes the proper use of natural and cultural resources, improving the quality of life of local communities and the economic success of the activity that contributes to the development of the territory and therefore the people who Live in it. Nowadays, sustainability no longer responds to a demand requirement, but is a mandatory condition to be able to compete successfully now and in the future.
